TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action to approve a contract amendment with Haydon Building Corp for Design-Build Construction Services in an amount not to exceed $1,781,012 for the Regional Park/Sports Complex project. The funding for the project will be drawn from budget line item Parks Bond-Facilities, Improvements other than Buildings, Sports Complex (33044148-67730-33010). Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
Haydon is currently under contract for Design-Build Pre-Construction Services; awarded on April 17, 2012. Design-Build contracts are set-up as a two phase execution with the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for Construction being the second phase. This particular project will have more than one GMP due to the aggressive schedule and scope of work. GMP No. 1 will cover the mass grading of the site as well as the building pad preparation for the Multigenerational Center. There will more than likely be two more GMPs executed for the project; GMP No. 2 - site lighting and utilities and GMP No. 3 - balance of the park improvements.
City staff and Abacus Project Management have reviewed the construction estimates and have negotiated and agreed upon the GMP. For a complete scope of work and cost breakdown see the attached contract exhibit.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approval of the contract amendment with Haydon Building Corp for Design-Build Construction Services for the Regional Park/Sports Complex project.
