TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on approving the purchase of six (6) portable radios from Motorola, Inc., pursuant to Section 3-223, Cooperative Purchasing” of the City Code in an amount not to exceed $30,659. Funding is from Grants -Police Operations, Homeland Security (22022122-55690-17211) for $27,746 and CIP- Police Radios (35022122-67741-32036) for $2,913. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
This action is for Mayor and City Council to approve the purchase six (6) portable radios.
In February, 2016, the Mayor and City Council provided consent to submit a grant application to the Arizona Department of Homeland Security in an amount not to exceed $76,000 to purchase portable radios for the Police Department.
In October, 2016 The Arizona Department of Homeland Security awarded the City of Maricopa $27,746 for the purchase of portable radios. There is no match requirement.
Portable radios are essential communications equipment used by police personnel and police volunteers at all emergency incidents and during day-to-day operations. These Portable radios will be assigned to police volunteers and responding agencies during a critical incident or a special event.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approval to purchase six (6) portable radios from Motorola, Inc.
