TITLE

A Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, adopting amendments to the City's Facility Rentals Policy.  Discussion and Action.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

The Facility Rentals Policy was last revised and approved on 12/2/2025. This policy established parameters for rates, and the manner in which they may be discounted, but did not determine exact rates or fees to be set. It also set some basic guidelines for the rental of facilities, including the base rate/local business rate, resident/non-profit rate at 35% discount and the non-resident rate at 200% of the base rate.

The policy currently allows tournaments of a certain significant size to receive the base rate instead of the non-resident rate, with the intent to attract large tournaments which contributes to positive economic impact. The Fieldhouse at Copper Sky is scheduled to be open later this year which creates many opportunities for residents, and out of town visitors. This facility may host tournaments, as well as other large events. Proposed language will allow other large events to also receive the base rate. Staff have presented to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee on 3/26/2026 and received positive feedback.

PRESENTER
