TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on approving an updated Public Service Award Agreement and Scope of Services with the City of Maricopa Chamber of Commerce for FY12-13 in the amount of $40,000 to be paid from the FY12-13 Non-Departmental, Program Awards budget line (10010000-53380). Discussion and action.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
This represents a continuation of current funding levels for the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce in return for their provision of a number of public service activities, including but not limited to their primary service focus of maintaining a manned visitor center office in Maricopa recognized by the Arizona Office of Tourism, investment of time and resources in small business assistance to help startup and/or existing businesses in Maricopa and providing networking opportunities for local businesses.

Also included in the Public Service Award for FY12-13 is the submission by the Chamber to the City of a quarterly written report indicating the activities, successes and major transactions that have occurred due to these Award Funds and in accordance with the Scope of Services as described in Exhibit A, as well as a financial accounting of the funds received as part of this agreement.

The Maricopa Chamber of Commerce has indeed grown tremendously along with the City itself. Prior to the first Public Service Award agreement in 2007, the Chamber had approximately 60 active members and now has well over 300. It has secured permanent offices, is a designated visitor center, has an extensive website and hosts annual events such as the Awards Banquet, Keynote Speaker, and Golf Bash. It has recently hired a new Executive Director, Jim McMichael, who has been vigorously working towards growing the Chamber and advancing its positive impact on commerce in the community.
