TITLE

The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on ratifying a Lease Agreement between the City of Maricopa, a municipal corporation, (“Landlord”), and Duke Farms LLC, an Arizona limited liability company (“Tenant”) for vacant land generally located along W. Maricopa Casa Grande Highway and N. White and Parker Road. Discussion and Action.

 

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

The City of Maricopa owns approximately 923 acres generally located along W. Maricopa Casa Grande Hwy. and N. White and Parker Road, Maricopa, Pinal County, Arizona. Currently this property is vacant land. The City desires to enter into a lease agreement with Duke Farms LLC to allow a portion of this property to be farmed (see Exhibit "A"). In lieu of rental payment, Tenant will maintain the property at Tenant’s sole cost and expense consistent with the schedule set forth in Exhibit "B". Maintenance will include, but not be limited to, periodic disking on the property and/or applying appropriate chemicals to control weeds, reduce potential fire hazards, remove accumulated dry vegetation and maintain the property in a condition consistent with City standards.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council ratify the Lease Agreement with Duke Farms LLC.
