TITLE
A Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona requesting members of the Arizona State Legislature support the concept of local control and vote in opposition to House Bill 2254, Municipal Tax Exemption; Residential Lease. Discussion and Action.
 
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
On January 20, 2015, The City of Maricopa City Council adopted a Legislative Platform which includes a commitment to protect local revenue sources and to retain local control. HB 2254 "Municipal Tax Exemption; Residential Lease" would remove Council's ability to tax the business transactions of landlords of residential rental or lease properties in Maricopa, costing the City of Maricopa $500,000 annually. By adoption of this resolution Council will formally go on record in opposition to HB 2254.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Mayor and City Council adopt the Resolution as presented.
