TITLE

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
On March 2, 2015 the Mayor and City Council approved a grant submission to the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission (ACJC) to request continued funding for a part-time Victim Advocate position. On May 22, 2015 the Maricopa Police Department received a notice of an approved grant award through ACJC.

Per the grant requirements, since the Maricopa Police Department has been providing victim services through a volunteer program prior to 2011, there is a 50% match requirement and in-kind sources are not allowable. Additionally, ACJC will most likely only fund a part-time position. Matching sources for this grant can include, salary costs, training costs, printing for Victim Services Brochures, Victim Rights Week Event and materials, uniforms and supplies for the Victim Assistance volunteers. These items are in the tentatively adopted FY15-16 budget.

There are additional funding sources the Maricopa Police Department may seek funding through to make this a full-time position and will be allowable as the matching requirement to include but not limited to; Arizona Department of Public Safety, Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) and foundation level funding opportunities like the Mary Kay Foundation and Arizona Women Foundation.
