TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on approving a request by Youth Coordinator, Heather Lozano, to appoint new members to the 2016-2017 City of Maricopa Youth Council. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The vision of the Youth Council is to be a diverse and knowledgeable group of teenagers who can provide insight to City leadership. The Youth Council’s current vision necessitates a need for a large, active membership. Each member’s unique insight is valuable in terms of connecting with the large base of youth they represent. Through the current recruitment process, sixteen eligible teens (ages 13-17) have applied for this year’s term. The structure of the Youth Council does not define a limit on the number of seats available.

New applicants include: Freya Francy Abraham, Joycelyn Cabrera, Alexis Christopherson, Morgan Godfrey, Joie Guela, Dylan Hill, Breeze Krella, Marquis McCullough, Priscila Mojarro Urena, Kyra Morris, Nancy Saldana, and Kadin Pulliam.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends Mayor and City Council appoint all eligible candidates to the City of Maricopa Youth Council. The City of Maricopa Youth Council would consist of 16 members.
