AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The City of Maricopa placed job opportunity information for this position on the City website, with a wide number of relevant trade associations, on professional networking sites such as LinkedIn, and promoted the position vigorously by word of mouth. However, it is critical to have a significant pool of qualified candidates to choose from and this was not received. The initial recruitment was closed on December 31. Upon approval of this needed budgetary capacity, a professional recruiter will be selected and the recruitment will be reopened with revised application instructions to be made available on the City website. Prior applicants will have the opportunity to resubmit their information to the recruitment firm for consideration.

The services performed by a professional recruitment firm will include but not be limited to:
- Interview with City Manager and key staff members to develop the ideal candidate profile and develop a list of issues and priorities that will need to be addressed by the successful applicant
- Creation of a recruitment schedule and list of top issues and priorities the candidate will need to address, to ensure the appropriate skill sets are sought
- Development, design, and placement of advertisement and brochure to promote the opportunity
- Handling of responses to inquiries from applicants and potential applicants, and keeping the City informed of progress
