TITLE

The Mayor and City Council shall hear public comment regarding a land use assumptions and infrastructure improvements plan for the City of Maricopa.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

The Mayor and City Council shall hear public comment regarding the City’s updated Land Use Assumptions and Infrastructure Improvements Plan (LUA/IIP, or “the Plan”), which is the precursor to implementing new Development Impact Fees.

Arizona Revised Statutes 9-463.05 provides the process for implementing development impact fees in Arizona. The first public step of this process is to present a Land Use Assumption and Infrastructure Improvement Plan for public comment. On September 19th, the City posted the draft LUA/IIP on its website and provided public notice of this public hearing. Although not required by statute, the City has since held three separate stakeholder meetings, where the development community and the general public could learn more about the Plan and ask any clarifying questions. Responses to these questions have been posted on the City’s website, so they are visible to all interested parties.

As part of this agenda item, the City’s consultant, LRB Public Finance Advisors, will make a short presentation to provide some additional overview and context.

This item will be presented by Benjamin Bitter, Deputy City Manager.
