TITLE

The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action to accept a grant award and enter into a contract with the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission (ACJC) in the amount of $25,052 for a part-time victim advocate position in FY16/17. Discussion and Action.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

On March 1, 2016, the Mayor and City Council approved a grant submission to the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission (ACJC) to request continued funding for a part-time Victim Advocate position. On May 27, 2016, the Maricopa Police Department received notification of award from ACJC.

The City has a match requirement under the ACJC grant. We will be required to match the grant amount of $25,052 dollar for dollar. The match for ACJC will primarily come from salary of the Community Programs Manager, but can also include other staff salaries that contribute to the grant or programs that are tied with Victim Advocacy in the City.  The other programs include activities around the National Crime Victim Rights Week, printing costs of victim service brochures and collateral, and volunteer hours.

This item will be presented by Police Chief, Steve Stahl and/or TJ Hansell, Grants Coordinator.
