TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action to enter into an Option and Land Lease Agreement with Verizon Wireless, LLC for a wireless antenna on City owned property at Pacana Pack located at 18800 N. Porter Road. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
Staff has negotiated a land lease agreement with Verizon Wireless, LLC for the placement of a wireless antenna in place of an existing light pole at Pacana Park owned by the City at 18800 N. Porter Road. Verizon Wireless is proposing to replace an existing 70-foot-high ball field light tower at Pacana Park with an 80-foot-high light tower to accommodate a wireless telecommunications antenna mounted above the light fixtures. This wireless antenna will be located in place of the north light pole next to the west soccer field. The location of the antenna is intended to provide the least amount of disruption to the City's use and maintenance of the park.
The general terms of the lease are as follows:
1. Verizon will pay the City $1,500/month during the ten-year term of the agreement.
2. Verizon will be responsible for providing all necessary utilities to their site, providing an extended maintenance yard for the Parks Division and in exchange will enjoy unfettered access to the property during the term of the agreement.
The City currently has a land lease agreement with Verizon Wireless, LLC for a cellular tower on City owned property generally located on the SW corner of SR 347 and Bowlin Road. That agreement was entered into on December 6, 2011.
The City Council is scheduled to consider CUP 12-02 for approval on September 18, 2012 regarding the specific location of this antenna placement.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends entering into the Option and Land Lease Agreement with Verizon Wireless, LLC.
