TITLE

An initiation by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, authorizing staff to initiate a street name change for W. Cesar Chavez Lane, located within the Mixed-Use Heritage Redevelopment District.  Discussion and Action.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

City Staff is requesting, pursuant to the City’s Street Naming and Addressing Procedures (SNAP), Mayor and Council approval to initiate a street name change for W. Cesar Chavez Lane, located within the Mixed-Use Heritage Redevelopment District. The road was previously named Arizona Avenue.

According to the Pinal County Assessor's office, there are six parcels located on Cesar Chavez Lane. At present, only two of the six parcels list Cesar Chavez Lane as their mailing address with the Assessor, as others use a P.O. Box or have mail sent to another address. One parcel has retained the Arizona Avenue address, despite the previous name change.

This action would initiate a process, as outlined in the attached timeline, that would include notifications for parcel owners, the post office, and others. The total timeline takes about 10 weeks from the initiation of this action to ensure proper notification to all parties.

PRESENTER

This item will be presented by Rick Williams, Planning and Zoning Division Manager

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends Mayor and Council direct City Staff to initiate the street name change process as outlined in the City of Maricopa’s Street Naming and Addressing Procedures.
