TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall hear an Economic Development update for FY 2015-2016 and the goals set forth for FY16-17 to advance economic development efforts in the City of Maricopa. Discussion only.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
In June 2011, City Council voted to adopt an Economic Development Strategic Plan created to guide the City's short and long-term economic development efforts. The plan identified strategic areas of opportunity, gaps in the local economy and established four key goals to achieveing economic development success:
1. To be a regional leader in economic development with properly aligned resources and tools
2. To be a community recognized by site selctors and companies in target industries as having high quality real estate product
3. To have effective marketing that positions the community as a top of mind destination among target sectors and audiences
4. To be known as a community with unique quality of place within the region
The purpose of the presentation is to detail key initiatives staff has been understaking during the 2015-2016 fiscal year and what steps will be taken to develop a sustainable economy for the future.
