TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on entering into an Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Maricopa and Maricopa Domestic Water Improvement District for the relocation of a six-inch water transmission main currently in conflict with the construction of improvements to widen Honeycutt Road. Discussion and Action.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The Maricopa Domestic Water Improvement District maintains a six-inch diameter water transmission main in existing easements along the south side of Honeycutt Road that is the sole water source for the Seven Ranches Domestic Water Improvement District (SRDWID). The SRDWID provides domestic water services to homeowners and businesses within Maricopa's Seven Ranches community.  The upcoming construction project to widen Honeycutt Road to four lanes between White and Parker Road and Porter Road will require the relocation and lowering of Maricopa Domestic's water transmission main to maintain compliance with Arizona Department of Environmental Quality rules and regulations.

The Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the City of Maricopa and Maricopa Domestic Water Improvement District states that the City and the District agree to work cooperatively to ensure that an uninterrupted water supply be provided to property owners within the SRDWID's service territory by constructing improvements to relocate the water transmission main.  The costs associated with the relocation were included in the Honeycutt Road Widening Project's budget.

This item will be presented by Public Works Director William P. Fay.
