TITLE
A Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, approving an Intergovernmental Agreement between the State of Arizona, acting by and through its Department of Transportation, and the City of Maricopa for capacity improvements along State Route 347 from north of State Route 238 to Maricopa City limits. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The project will add a third northbound general-purpose lane from approximately 800-feet north of Smith-Enke Road to approximately 2000-feet north of the City limits, including appropriate pavement tapers. The project will also provide an additional right turn auxiliary lane from Lakeview Drive onto SR-347. The work will include grading, pavement, curb and gutter, median curb, sidewalk, and drainage improvements, as well as any necessary traffic signal modifications. ADOT will provide $2,055,591 and it is anticipated that the City will spend $2,000,000 (for a total combined budget of $4,055,591) towards construction of the project. In the event construction costs exceed the total budget, the City will be responsible for the entire amount that exceeds the $4,055,591 budget. ADOT will provide all costs associated with design of the project. The project was budgeted via the City’s Capital Improvement Plan (Project #34018), and will be drawn from Fund 30055151-67750-34018. Following construction of the improvements, ADOT has required that the City take over perpetual maintenance of the right-of-way within the project area.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approval of the Resolution to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with ADOT to construct pavement improvements on SR-347 between Smith-Enke Road and the northern City limits.
