TITLE

The Mayor and City Council will hear a presentation on the need for an updated Economic Development Strategic Plan and request for a budgetary transfer in the amount of $75,000 Economic Development - Regular Employees (10011616-51100) to Economic Development - Professional and Occupation (10011616-53320). Discussion and Action.

 

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

The Mayor and City Council will hear a presentation on the need for a new Economic Development Strategic Plan. The current plan was approved by City Council June 2011 at the end of the economic downturn and contained implementation matrices set on a 60 month timeline. The market conditions have changed significantly and a new plan is ideal for the Economic Development Department, allowing for staff to work with a consultant to identify the current and future needs of the the community and focus on proper target areas to meet community goals of being a destination to live, work and play.

 

Staff is also requesting a budget transfer of $75,000 from Economic Development - Regular Employees (10011616-51100) to Economic Development - Professional and Occupation (10011616-53320). The funds identified are from the Economic Development staff vacancy in FY 15-16.

 

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the Mayor and City Council hear a presentation on the need for an updated Economic Development Strategic Plan and approve the budget transfer.
