TITLE

The Mayor and City Council shall hear a presentation on the possible acquisition of Rotary Park.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

Rotary Park is a small neighborhood park located in the Heritage District.

The Rotary Club has approached the City inquiring as to whether or not there is interest in the City taking ownership of Rotary Park.

Staff has obtained an estimate from Dibble Engineering for conducting a land title survey at a cost of $6,320.

Currently the bathrooms are shared with the Rotary Pool.  The bathrooms can be accessed from the Park side only. Renovations to the bathrooms would be needed to have them open for public use.

Additional considerations in the acquisition would be removing or repairing the existing Ramada.  Another option is to replace the Ramada with half-court basketball.  If that option is chosen, the existing benches under the Ramada will be relocated throughout the park under trees near the BBQ's. Additionally staff will research grant opportunities for future playground equipment.

This item is being presented by Community Services Director Kristie Riester.
