The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and take action to approve an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) concerning the appropriation of funds from ADOT to the City in the amount of $10,300,000 to design and construct improvements to State Route 238 or State Route 347, or both. AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

The City of Maricopa recently accepted ownership of the SR238 and SR347 from ADOT at the end of 2022 through IGA 22-0008746-I and IGA 22-0008745-I. In conjunction with the transfer of ownership, ADOT agreed to pursue transferring unused funding from the SR347 widening design project to the City to assist with needed repairs and maintenance of SR238 and SR347.

This IGA will allow ADOT to appropriate $10,300,000 of State highway funds to the City of Maricopa to design and construct improvements for SR238 or SR347, or both. The City will complete the project or projects in accordance with the Laws associated with Senate Bill 1722. (See page 14 of attached Senate Bill 1722).

Upon completion of the projects utilizing these funds, the City will be required to submit written certification to ADOT that the Project/Projects was completed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the IGA.

This item will be presented by Public Works Director Keith Brown.
