AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

The Emergency Operations Plan is a comprehensive guide that outlines the city's approach to managing emergencies, whether they are natural, technological, or human-caused. The plan is built around the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and is designed to work in conjunction with the National Response Framework, the State of Arizona Emergency Response and Recovery Plan, and the Pinal County Emergency Operations Plan. The plan's primary goal is to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens during emergencies. It provides a structured, all-hazard approach to coordinate our city's emergency management activities effectively. It's a flexible and scalable document, meaning it can be adapted to emergencies of different types and scales.

The City of Maricopa's former plan titled Emergency Response and Recovery Plan was adopted in 2007 and amended in 2012. The updated plan was developed with guidance from various resources. Once adopted, this plan will serve as a living document that will be continuously updated based on best practices, lessons learned, and resource and technological advancements.

This item will be presented by George Burger, Emergency Manager.
