TITLE
The Mayor and Council shall consider a staff complement change to reclassify the position of Assistant to the City Manager to Intergovernmental Affairs Director position in the City Manager's Office and modify the 2013 Salary Plan. Funding for this reclassification will be a transfer from General Fund, Non-Departmental, Regular Employees (10010000-51100) to General Fund, City Manager, various salary and related costs (10011115-<various>). AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The salary range for the Intergovernmental Affairs Director position is $84,684 minimum to $116,738 maximum.
This reclassification is requested because of the increased level of responsibility and scope for the Intergovernmental Affairs Director over that of the Assistant to the City Manager. This new position directs the coordination of legislative and intergovernmental activities and programs. This position is responsible for ensuring that the City is well-represented in all intergovernmental matters, including relations with our Ak-Chin and Gila River Indian Community neighbors, other government offices such as Pinal County, the Maricopa Association of Government, the Central Arizona Governments, the Arizona State Legislature, and other key relationships.
This new position is vital to City operations as it protects the City's revenue streams from being negatively affected by actions at the Arizona State Legislature, including the recently passed transaction privilege tax (TPT) legislation.
This anticipated cost for this reclassification is $10,000, which will be funded by a transfer from General Fund, Non-Departmental, Regular Employees (10010000-51100).
