TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on entering into an Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Maricopa and The State of Arizona acting through the Department of Transportation on the design of a bridge on State Route 347 over the Union Pacific Railroad within the City. The City’s contribution toward funding for the design, in an amount not to exceed $525,700.00 will be drawn from the Highway User Revenue Fund (20055151-67750). Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The State will administer the design of a bridge on State Route (SR) 347 over the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) within the City of Maricopa. The design costs will include utility relocation and right-of-way acquisition necessary for the Project. As part of the Project, SR 347 will be realigned to install a bridge overpass over the UPRR and associated configuration of selected local streets for connectivity of various driveways and business accesses along the route. The State will obtain federal funds for the design costs associated with the Project. In April, the City participated in the Cost Risk Assessment and Value Engineering meetings to refine the scope of work. The construction and maintenance of the Project will be addressed in a future agreement. The City will contribute a total of $525,700 toward the design of the Project.
The Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the City of Maricopa and The State of Arizona acting through the Department of Transportation states that the City and the State agree to work cooperatively to adequately fund the improvement of SR 347 over the UPRR tracks through the City.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Mayor and City Council approve the IGA between the City of Maricopa and The State of Arizona acting through the Department of Transportation the design of a bridge on State Route 347 over the Union Pacific Railroad within the City. The City’s contribution toward funding for the design, in an amount not to exceed $525,700, will be drawn from various funding sources.
