TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and take action to accept four grants from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for FY19 related to police traffic services/speed control, impaired driving enforcement, pedestrian and bicycle safety and occupant safety and authorize City Manager Rick Horst, Chief Stahl and Grants/Accounting Coordinator Cassandra Brown to sign and prepare all associated grant documents. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The City of Maricopa applied for six grants under the FY19 Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) grant opportunities. The areas that the City sought funding were the following:
• Impaired Driving
• Occupant Protection
• Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety
• Police Traffic Services/ Speed Control
. Police Package Motorcycle
. Ford Interceptor Police Package Vehicle
The City of Maricopa through the Maricopa Police Department was awarded four grants with two that are pending. The four awards are as follows:
2019-405d-023: DUI/Impaired Enforcement Overtime $25,000
2019-405h-007: Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety $6,821
2019-OP-009: OP OT, CPS Course Fee, Car Seats $7,499
2019-PTS-027: Traffic Enforcement Overtime $6,355
Total $45,675
The two GOHS award applications pending determination are under DUI/Impaired Driving Enforcement and Speed and Traffic Enforcement totalling $69,751. Once GOHS establishes the total reallocation of FY19 awards, they will make a determination and potentially award us the two pending awards.

Staff recommends the Mayor and City Council take action to accept the four grants from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for FY19 and authorize City Manager Horst, Chief Stahl, and the Grants/Accounting Coordinator Cassandra Brown to sign and prepare all associated grant documents.
