TITLE

The expenditure will be for the purchase of two (2) LifePak 15 Defibrillators in an amount not to exceed $70,000.00 to be paid from General Government CIP, Fire Support Services, Vehicles (35022528 67742-32020). AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
Defibrillators/Cardiac monitors are used by paramedics to assess, diagnose, and treat victims of heart attacks, cardiac arrest, and other life threatening conditions. These monitors have a number of advanced features including;
·      Twelve lead capabilities to provide twelve different views of the heart to Fire Paramedics
·      External cardiac pacing
·      Vital sign monitoring and trending
·      Blood oxygen saturation levels
·      ECG monitoring
·      Manual and automated defibrillation
·      Biphasic defibrillation
·      CPR metronome to provide compression rate guidance to responders
·      Improved LCD screen for better sunlight viewing
·      Improved battery technology with increased capacity and operation time
·      Improved trending and communication technology that decreases time to treatment and improves patient outcomes.
One LifePak 15 will equip a Ladder Tender (LT) so that it is fully operational to reduce wear and tear on the aging ladder truck.  One LifePak 15 will be placed in service on the second freightliner so this unit is available to be called out in the event of a major emergency and for added coverage in the city.
Approval of this request provides quality LifePak 15 Monitors for our first responders to use in emergency operations.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Mayor and City Council approve a purchase in accordance with the City of Maricopa, Purchasing Code, Article IV, Section 3-223, Cooperative Purchasing. The expenditure will be for the purchase of two (2) LifePak 15 Defibrillators in an amount not to exceed $70,000.00 to be paid from General Government CIP, Fire Support Services, Vehicles (35022528 67742-32020).
