The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on approving a Sponsorship Agreement with Global Water Resources, Inc. related to Lake View Park. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
In March, the City of Maricopa held its ribbon cutting for Lake View Park. The Park is located across the street from the headquarters of Global Water (GWR). GWR recently contacted the City to determine if they might be able to assist in the maintenance and upkeep of Lake View Park, as a means of giving back to the community. From those discussions, a draft agreement was developed for the City Council's consideration.
In the agreement, the City grants to GWR the temporary, exclusive naming rights for the Baseball Fields at Lake View Park. Specifically, the fields will be named “Palo Verde Field,” and “Santa Cruz Field.” The term of the agreement is for four years, and will automatically renew for up to four additional one-year terms. In exchange for this sponsorship, GWR will pay the City an amount equal to the combined fees paid for water, sewer, and recycled water utility service at Lake View Park. As the City has not yet received any utility bills for the Park, there is not an exact estimate of the value of this sponsorship. However, based on other parks in the City, we anticipate an annual worth of around $15,000.
